“Rockin The Rez’ ” is an annual benefit concert establ-
ished as a means of raising money for, and bringing
attention to, deprived native reservations across
America.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO KNOW THAT "ROCKIN' THE REZ" IS
NOT NECESSARILY "A NATIVE EVENT", RATHER, "AN
EVENT FOR A NATIVE CAUSE".
November, 2010, brought many concerned individuals
to the grounds of the Chumash Indian museum
(Thousand Oaks, CA), where the very first concert
was held for the Lakota people of the Pine Ridge
reservation (South Dakota). The event had several
talented musicians perform, including artists from
Hawaii and New York, who heard about the event
and wanted to help.
To date, the event has brought onstage, the two time
NAMMY award winning Gray Wolf Blues band, the very
talented sound of “Outlaw and the Soul Strings”, the
folkadelic “Joee Corso band”, the incredible “No Duh”,
a fantastic “No Doubt” tribute band and the ever so
popular musical group “The Main Ingredient”, featur-
ing Cuba Gooding Sr.
Proceeds from the concerts have gone to help pro-
vide propane for families on the Pine Ridge reser-
vation, to help get them through the harsh South
Dakota winters. But our goal is to be able to provide
much more than that and to spill over to other
reservations as well.
